Lady Gaga Makes Historical Appearance on All Major Late Night Talk Shows to Announce Lineup for Her One World Event
When Lady Gaga hosts an event she goes big.
Yesterday, Gaga and the World Health Organization (WHO) announced they would be hosting a Live-Aid inspired event called One World: Together at Home. The event’s mission is to celebrate healthcare workers around the globe and to support the U.N. Foundation’s COVID Response Fund. The concert will be broadcast live on TV and on social media Saturday April 18 at 8-10 PM EST.
Gaga made a big promotional push last night appearing on all major late night talk shows to announce the line up via Zoom. During the appearance, she asked Jimmy Fallon, “Would you like to know who’s hosting?” After Fallon gave an affirmative response the pop star responded, “You. I got Jimmy Fallon and guess who else I got?” She then held up a pink post-it note with the names Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel on it.
Gaga also noted that the cast of Sesame Street would be making an appearance as well as several athletes, actors and musicians. Those that were mentioned include Alanis Morissette, Andrea Bocelli, Billie Eilish, Billy Joe Armstrong, Burna Boy, Chris Martin, David Beckham, Eddie Vedder, Elton John, Finneas, Idris and Sabrina Elba, J Balvin, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban, Kerry Washington, Lang Lang, Lizzo, Maluma, Sir Paul McCartney, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Shah Rukh Khan and Stevie Wonder.
The event will be broadcast live on ABC, NBC and CBS networks, iHeartMedia in the U.S., Bell Media platforms in Canada, on BBC One, and stream on Alibaba, Amazon Prime Video, Apple, beIN Media Group, Facebook, Instagram, LiveXLive, Tencent, Tencent Music Entertainment Group, TIDAL, TuneIn, Twitch, Twitter, Yahoo and YouTube.
The event will not be a fundraiser. Gaga has already raised $35 million towards COVID efforts including donations from IBM and Cisco and Apple CEO Time Cook who FaceTimed Gaga when she was on the Fallon Show last week to make his donation.
Gaga hasn’t left her house in a month and has been spending much of her time at home on the phone with philanthropists to raise funding for the show. She explains that she didn’t want people to have to deal with getting up and having to donate during the broadcast.
Gaga went on to explain that she hopes the show will emphasize the efforts of the "global, kind community that's coming together right now, with a focus on the medical teams doing the brave frontline work, as well as the cultural moment we're all experiencing and the strength of the human spirit in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic”.
The pop star left Kimmel with the following quote, "The truth is that I feel very blessed that I have a home. I feel blessed that I have access to good food and that it's healthy and clean and I wanted to figure out what I could do with my time to be of service."
Lady Gaga is known for her outrageous antics and over the top productions and we are sure her April 18 event will not disappoint. We can’t wait to tune in.
